Overview

"Conversation: A City on the Move" is a public engagement initiative designed for Addu City Council to foster meaningful dialogue around the Jazeera Addu Manifesto and ensure transparency, ownership, and strategic follow-through on regional development goals. The initiative includes a 12-part video series, feedback loops, public consultations, and biannual updates to drive informed, community-led progress.


Objectives

  • Simplify and communicate the vision of the Jazeera Addu Manifesto to the general public.

  • Stimulate community engagement and constructive public discourse.

  • Build a transparent action plan based on feedback and expert discussions.

  • Promote accountability and continuous improvement.


Proposed Topics for the 12-Part Series

Each episode will focus on one of the major themes from the Jazeera Addu Manifesto:

  2. Youth Employment & Skills Development

  3. Sustainable Tourism Development

  4. Public Health and Well-being

  5. Digital Governance & Smart City Solutions

  6. Urban Planning and Housing

  11. Entrepreneurship & Local Business Growth

  12. Social Welfare & Inclusive Development


Format

  • Conversation Style: 30–45 minutes informal video discussions between 2–3 participants (subject matter experts, community leaders, policymakers).

  • Tone: Relatable, reflective, and jargon-free to resonate with everyday viewers.

  • Publishing Platforms: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter/X, and the Addu City Council website.


Engagement Strategy

  1. Post-Episode Polls & Feedback

    • Polls on the City Council’s social media platforms.

    • One-week open feedback form after each episode.

    • MVR 2,000 prize for the most impactful public input per episode.

  2. Action Planning

    • Convert ideas from the conversation and public feedback into a draft action plan.

  3. Public Consultation Process

    • Open the draft for public review and suggestions.

    • Finalize the action plan with a clear set of deliverables and timelines.

    • Publish final plan on council platforms.

  4. Biannual Follow-Up Conversations

    • Revisit each topic every 6 months with a status update and new conversations.

    • Ensure a loop of transparency, learning, and adaptability.
